Branka Stergar svoj prosti čas požrtvovalno namenja delu v društvih in svetu krajevne skupnosti Dobova. Uspešno že četrti mandat vodi Turistično društvo Dobova, kjer je bila pred tem kar 16 let tajnica. Društvo se lahko po njeni zaslugi pohvali s projekti kot so Etno festival »Fašjenk« Dobova, Krompirjada, prireditev »Dobova se predstavi«, projekt »Moja dežela lepa in gostoljubna« ter številnimi drugimi. Branka Stergar je tudi tajnica Prostovoljnega gasilskega društva Sela, njeno delo na področju gasilstva pa presega meje matičnega društva, saj sodeluje v Gasilski zvezi Brežice. Nepogrešljiv je njen prispevek v Svetu KS Dobova, kjer je že tretji mandat podpredsednica. Branka Stergar s svojim delovanjem pušča vidne sledi po vseh krajih občine. Rezultati njenega predanega dela in sposobnosti povezovanja so opazni pri vseh 18-ih turističnih društvih, ki jih vodi kot predsednica Občinske turistične zveze Brežice. Med njenimi dosežki velja izpostaviti predstavitve turistične zveze in društev na sejmih ter projekt Moja dežela lepa in gostoljubna za Posavje.
